I’m Daniela, a sales administrator from Colombia. I’m a mother to one, and I’ve survived stage 2 breast cancer.
I was declared cancer-free in March 2024.

A spot on the breast and reddishness. I was told I had a 70% 5-year survival rate.

I felt helpless, overwhelmed and vulnerable.

I’m working on dealing with my emotions.

I opted to do a mastectomy, lymphadenectomy, chemo, and radiation therapy, based on my doctor’s recommendation, and my own research. Still, I did seek a second opinion to learn about other options before going ahead. After starting my treatment, I felt happy and a bit more hopeful. I did feel a little discouraged about the whole situation.

In terms of side effects, the ones that affected me the most were: fatigue, hair loss, and low appetite. To manage them, I tried to eat better. Unfortunately, the minimum wage was not enough for me as I faced treatment, and I faced financial difficulties.

Most days, I couldn’t eat healthier at all.
I found myself spending a bit more time with my children, and kept in touch with my parents as often as before. My family and I still go on 8 trips a year.

For me and my family, we plan to travel.
My biggest dream is to be able to preach the word of God. I want to be able to love those close to me very much.

I’m afraid of suffering. I had to work on dealing with my emotions to handle this fear.

Now, I still feel frightened, and worried.

To others, I would say: “Have a lot of faith in God and in yourself.”
