I’m Elsa, I’m from Colombia. Right now, I’m in remission for stage 2 breast cancer. I’ve previously lost my father to cancer too.

I went to consult a doctor after noticing that blood came out of my nipple.
When I received my diagnosis, I felt grief, and like I was powerless.

I had to reduce how often I exercised, by about half of what I used to do.

During treatment, I started exercising more, and tried to make it a permanent change to my lifestyle. I spent as much time as I did with my parents before, visiting and contacting them very frequently, while I doubled the amount of time I spent with my kids. We used to only go on one family trip a year, now we go for up to 8 trips.

With my family, we plan to travel, while personally, I plan to spend more time at church.
My dreams are for my God to give me great health, to spend more time with Him, as well as for my family to be close together.

It’s to have to redo cancer treatment and have my hair fall off again. I tried to deal with it through having faith in God, and a lot of prayer.

As of now, I’m optimistic and feeling courageous after everything.

To others, I would say: “Don’t be discouraged, and have a lot of faith in God.”

At first I was recommended a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. But, I had to change my plan as it wasn’t working effectively. Throughout it all, I remained quite positive. I felt happy, relieved and motivated to continue my treatment.
Now, I’m in remission and still on hormone therapy.

Still, the worst side effects for me were nausea and vomiting. To manage them, I had prescribed medication from my doctor.
