My cancer journey started more than three years ago. I had a family history of cancer, with both paternal uncles and maternal cousins having battled it.

I had a lot of pain and inflammation throughout my body. I also had a family history of cancer, affecting my uncles and cousins. After seeking medical attention, it turned out to be stage 2 breast cancer.

When I first received my diagnosis, I felt fearful and nervous.

After the diagnosis, I made some lifestyle changes. The first thing I did was to overhaul my nutrition and diet. I started eating a healthier diet every single day.

I am still receiving treatment. The treatment plan my doctor recommended consisted of lumpectomy (breast-conserving surgery), radiation therapy and hormone therapy (tamoxifen). I opted for the surgery and I’m currently taking tamoxifen.
With a concrete plan in place, I finally have a positive outlook on my journey. I was very happy, relieved, motivated and hopeful.

I experienced side effects from my treatment. The most troubling one was peripheral neuropathy which I managed with prescribed medication.

I continue to eat healthily every day, which has become a permanent part of my life.

My only dreams and plans are to spend more quality time with my family and loved ones.

Throughout my journey, my biggest fear was that I might get sick again. This fear loomed over me, but my spirituality helped me cope with it.

Nowadays, I feel more optimistic. I'm thankful for every day and the progress I've made.

To anyone going through their own cancer journey, I would say: "Have faith in God and follow through the treatment”
