Kathryn Profile

Hi, I'm Kathryn, and I've been through quite a journey with Stage 3 breast cancer.

Elsie Symptoms

It all started in 2019 when I discovered some unusual swelling in between my breasts. I also faced changes in my breast shape, and some irritation. After visiting the hospital for consultation on these symptoms, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer.

I felt quite frightened and overwhelmed at the start. Getting a diagnosis like this makes you feel isolated and empty.

Cindy Emotions
Aditya Lifestyle

After my diagnosis, I did not make any changes to my lifestyle.

Timothy Lifestyle

I underwent lumpectomy (a breast-conserving surgery), lymphadenectomy to remove my lymph nodes, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, based on my doctor’s recommendation. After deciding on this treatment plan, I felt relieved, and a little hopeful.

However, the treatment did come with its challenges. I experienced side effects like fatigue, hair loss, and weight fluctuations, which were managed with prescribed medication.

Kathryn Lifestyle

I faced financial difficulties due to my treatment. The travel expenses and heating costs were additional expenses to consider.

Since completing treatment, my focus has been on enjoying life and making memories with my loved ones.

Aspirations Family Time

To spend time with my family.

Carole Biggest Fear

My biggest fear throughout this journey has been leaving my children.

Juanito Emotions

Right now, even though I’ve successfully beaten the cancer, I still feel resentful, worried, and a little insecure.

Anna Words
My words for others are: “Keep positive and be strong even on your hardest days, accept help, and rest.
