My name is Lauren. I was diagnosed with breast cancer less than a year ago.

When I first heard the diagnosis, I was overwhelmed. I felt
- Frightened, helpless, insecure, nervous, and worried
- Empty, isolated, and powerless

After the diagnosis, I made significant changes to my nutrition and diet. I started eating healthily every day and exercising more.

I'm currently receiving treatment for my cancer. When my journey with cancer began, my doctors recommended mastectomy (removal of the entire breast), chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and hormonal therapy.
When the plan was finalized, I was a little hopeful and motivated, yet I was still a bit anxious. Right now, I'm on radiation therapy and hormonal therapy.

The treatments came with some tough side effects - fatigue, hair loss, and swelling (lymphedema). To manage these, I increased my exercise frequency and improved my nutrition.

The lifestyle changes I made since the diagnosis have become permanent.

Looking ahead, I plan to spend more time with my partner and travel again. For myself, I plan to become more active after treatment. Since being diagnosed, I've become a breast cancer advocate on social media. Now I want to raise awareness about breast cancer and create a community for younger BC patients and survivors. Ultimately, my dream is to travel and live a full life with my partner.

Since my diagnosis, I’ve been fearing that I would lose who I used to be before cancer. I told myself that I can still do the things I love while living with cancer.

Right now, I feel optimistic. I'm hopeful and inspired, despite everything I've been through.

To those who are currently on their own cancer journey, I want to say: "Never feel guilty for not being productive. Rest and take care of yourselves as much as you can."
