Hi, I’m Lilibeth from Colombia, a mother of two. I’ve previously lost an uncle to stomach cancer and my mother’s sister to leukemia. Currently, after treatment I’m in remission from stage 2 breast cancer.

I noticed that my nipples looked larger than normal.

I felt optimistic and courageous at the start.

Since hearing the news, I ended up eating unhealthily every day.

At first, my doctor only recommended a mastectomy, but in the end we did chemo, radiation therapy and hormone therapy. Picking this plan made me happier, relieved, and hopeful.
Currently, I’ve completed most of my treatment, and I’m in remission now. I’m still on hormone therapy.

In terms of side effects, the ones that affected me the most were: lymphedema, nausea and vomiting. I managed by trying to change how I ate, and medication to help with the side effects.

Since treatment, I’ve found myself still eating unhealthier every day. Intimacy with my partner is half as often now. Still, I spend a lot of time visiting and in contact with my kids and parents, and we go for around 10 trips a year with my kids now.

I plan to spend time with my family at a farm. Personally, I don’t like to have plans. Still, the dream is to be completely healthy, and to remain close together with my family.

I was afraid of being left with a disability. For now, I’ve overcome it.

Now, I still feel optimistic and courageous.

To others, I would say: “Have faith and love; for the family.”
