Hi, I'm Matilde. I have 3 kids, and I survived Stage 2 breast cancer. Things started when I found a lump in my left breast.

I felt a lump in my left breast, so I went to the doctor and he ordered a mammogram and ultrasound, which showed signs of malignancy. After that, I was referred to the oncologist who ordered a biopsy, which confirmed breast cancer.

The news left me frightened, and fearful. I still felt a sense of optimism, though.

I tried to eat better every day.

I underwent
I made my decision based on my doctor's recommendation but I still felt angry, discouraged, and scared.
While I’ve completed my treatment and am in remission, I’m still taking hormone therapy right now.

The side effects that affected me the most were
- hair loss
- hand and foot syndrome
- loss of appetite
I managed them through more exercise and eating better.

I tried to make permanent changes to my life focusing on nutrition and exercise. While I continued to spend time with my family as usual, I’ve gone on more family trips since the cancer appeared.

With my family, I want to live and enjoy the moments we can be together. I plan to take care of myself and try to do what I like.
My biggest aspiration is to live in peace, close to my family, and to enjoy the weather. I want to have my loved ones close and to enjoy time together.

My biggest fear was that the treatment would not be effective and this would lead to a critical situation.
I try to overcome it through this: I trust and live each day in and with God.

Now, I feel more optimistic and thankful.

To those on their cancer journey, I say, "Every day is a gift from God, live it by taking care of yourself, rest, eat what you like. Eat healthily and what your body craves, walk, breathe fresh air and join the creator of life who will inspire the rest."
