On June 13, 2026, influencer Carly Douglas lost a hard-fought battle to stage four gastric cancer. Douglas, who was a motherhood, lifestyle, and fitness influencer, was first diagnosed in March this year, following a visit to the ER for excruciating abdominal pain. The news of her passing came less than three months following the initial announcement of her diagnosis.
Here is what we know about Carly Douglas’ cancer journey.
Carly Douglas’ diagnosis
On March 24, 2026, Douglas announced her diagnosis through an intimate and vulnerable video on social media. “Two weeks ago, I took myself to the ER. David was out of town, and my mom came over in the middle of the night to watch the kids. I drove myself to the ER because I thought I was having a bowel obstruction,” recalled Douglas, who was a mother of three. “My belly was just very distended, and I was in a lot of pain. So they did a CT scan, [which] showed that I have stage four gastric cancer.”
She also shared that the CT scan showed ascites (fluid buildup) around her abdomen, and that the peritoneum of her abdomen was very inflamed. “They did an endoscopy and found a very large tumor on my stomach; a bleeding tumor that they biopsied, and that came back as cancer. They believe that it started in the stomach, and has just metastasized,” shared a visibly distressed Douglas, motioning to her abdomen to indicate the extent of spread. “It’s truly like living in a nightmare. I keep trying to wake up, but it’s very much real.”
Douglas was very public about her dedication to her children, the oldest of which is about elementary school age. Recognising that the diagnosis would impact her children as much, if not more than her, Douglas remarked, “I think it’s anyone’s worst nightmare, especially a mother.”
Despite the utter shock that came with her sudden diagnosis, Douglas continued to hope for the very best in her last moments. “I think I’ve walked through every stage of grief possible, but one thing that has never left is just this overwhelming sense of peace that I’m going to be okay,” she shared towards the end of the social media video.
Over the next several weeks, Douglas was transparent about her cancer journey on social media. She would often post candid moments of her receiving treatment, as well as share updates of her cancer journey. Douglas also continued to post about her family, motherhood, and lifestyle as she had before her diagnosis.
Carly Douglas’ passing
On June 17, 2026, a social media post announcing her passing was made on Douglas’ account. “On June 13, 2026, Carly Faye Douglas stepped into complete glory, in her final resting place,” read the caption.
The post also recalled her love for her children and her strong sense of identity as a mother. “She treasured her children and savored every moment with them, soaking up every last drop of giggles and hugs until the very end. Being River, Faye, and Townes’ mother was her greatest honor and joy.” Throughout her career as an influencer, Douglas’ social media content often revolved around motherhood.
“We are devastated for us here, without her. The Carly-sized hole left in her family and friends’ lives will never be filled. But, we do not grieve without hope. We know she is whole, complete, and the most joyful, radiant version of herself,” read the post.
