American comedian and YouTuber Grace Helbig revealed on October 12, 2026 that she will be undergoing surgery to remove two brain tumors. The news comes three years after Helbig revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2023.

Grace Helbig’s breast cancer journey

In July 2023, Helbig announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. During a routine gynecological check-up, she discovered that she had a lump in her breast. After undergoing further tests, which included a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy, Helbig was diagnosed with stage 2A triple-positive breast cancer.

Helbig shared that receiving a cancer diagnosis was “surreal” and “very shocking”. She added that when she discovered a lump in her breast, she “almost didn’t bring it up” to her doctor as she “was convinced that what I was feeling couldn’t possibly be serious and I was being silly”. Fortunately, her cancer was discovered at an early stage and it was treatable.

Cancer treatment

Helbig underwent six rounds of chemotherapy, followed by surgery, radiation therapy, and 10 rounds of hormonal therapy. Throughout her treatment, she shared her experience from how she managed the side effects to supporting other breast cancer patients undergoing a similar journey. Following her treatment, Helbig was declared cancer-free.

Cancer advocacy

After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Helbig leveraged her platform to actively raise awareness about the disease. Not only did she share her journey on social media, Helbig also collaborated with cancer organizations and took part in awareness campaigns. By doing so, she hopes to highlight the importance of early detection and encourage people to undergo regular screening.

Three years later, Helbig shared on Instagram that she will undergo a surgery on October 14, 2026 to remove two tumors in her brain. After experiencing numbness in her leg, Helbig went to the emergency room where the doctors discovered the tumors. . She added that she may have to undergo radiation therapy as well.

"She missed me. My cancer missed me. Why wouldn’t she want to be in my body?” Helbig shared lightheartedly in her video.

Despite her cancer recurrence, Helbig remains “very positive and optimistic”.

“It felt like so much more work to keep it offline than to just tell people what was going on,” she shared. “My biggest concern about telling people is that I didn’t want it to be like, ‘Here’s your responsibility of handling this really difficult thing.’ I think I’ve always been protective of an audience in making sure that they didn’t have to carry something for me in some way.”

Helbig ended her announcement, promising that she will keep everyone “in the loop on how the surgery goes”.
