On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, United States-based social media personality Nara Smith shared that her two-year-old daughter, Whimsy, is battling cancer. Smith shared that Whimsy, who was born to the influencer and her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, in 2024, was diagnosed late last year. Here is what we know about Nara Smith’s daughter’s cancer diagnosis.

Nara Smith’s daughter’s cancer diagnosis

In a two-and-a-half-minute video posted on Instagram, Smith shared her family’s initial experience with Whimsy’s illness. “When we saw something suspicious on her, we took her to the ER, and they didn’t quite know what to make of it. So, when we took her to our pediatrician, I just remember him going really quiet and calm, and my heart dropped in that moment.”

She continued to recount the details of the process that led to Whimsy’s diagnosis. “After a lot of X-rays, ultrasounds, and finally a biopsy, they finally called us and said she had cancer. They told us that it had spread and that she had to come and start chemo treatments immediately.”

Smith did not disclose any further information about the nature of Whimsy’s diagnosis.

The influencer mentioned that she has been on a ‘plethora’ of forums and social media platforms since the diagnosis and has also talked to several families in the hospital, all of which have brought her immense comfort. In the video, Smith shared that she hoped to be able to pay the kindness forward through speaking out about her daughter’s cancer diagnosis. “We wanted to share this to hopefully bring someone else that comfort. Or even incentivise you to go get something checked out that you’ve been avoiding.”

Nara Smith’s influencer career

Smith, who is turning 25 later this year, started her career as an influencer and social media personality in 2023. Before this, she had been modelling since she was 14 years old.

Smith has previously received significant backlash for her carefully curated, traditionally feminine and domestic aesthetic. Her content most often depicts her making elaborate meals and unconventional food items for her family from scratch, including marshmallows and bubble gum, while wearing exceptionally luxurious clothing. Such videos elicit mixed reactions from users—many accuse her of perpetuating traditional gender roles under the guise of ‘choice’, while others argue that she simply enjoys caring for her family because she can.

Smith’s online persona has been further scrutinized due to the influencer’s young age; she first went viral on the internet in 2023, when she was 22 years old and had two children, the first of whom was born when Smith was only 19.

Her audience also consists primarily of teenage girls and young women.

Smith has publicly defended her brand and even distanced herself from the term ‘tradwife,’ a portmanteau of ‘traditional wife’ that is often used by critics of her content. “They use me as this poster child of this like very traditional wife, and I’m not,” shared the influencer in a 2025 podcast with online personality Jay Shetty.
