Jenna Fischer marked 2 years since her breast cancer diagnosis via Instagram in December 2025. The 51-year-old American actress was diagnosed with stage 1 triple positive breast cancer in December 2023.
After going through a series of treatments throughout 2024, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, she has shared in October 2024 that she is officially cancer-free.
Jenna Fischer’s cancer
Fischer was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram. Because of dense breast tissue, her initial mammogram was inconclusive. A follow-up ultrasound identified a mass in her left breast, and a subsequent biopsy confirmed her diagnosis.
Fischer shared that fellow actress and breast cancer survivor, Christina Applegate, was one of the first people she contacted after receiving her diagnosis. "I called her, and she answered the phone, and she said, 'Which one is it?' And I said, 'It's breast cancer'," Fischer recalled.
Triple positive breast cancer occurs when a tumor’s growth is fueled by 3 specific factors: estrogen, progesterone, and human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2) protein. The subtype accounts for about 10% of all breast cancer diagnoses. Although this cancer subtype is more aggressive, it is also highly responsive to current therapies.
Women with dense breasts have a higher risk of getting breast cancer.
The importance of regular breast cancer screening
Two years after receiving her diagnosis, Fischer is using her platform to advocate for preventive care. She urges her fans:
“Sending my love to anyone battling a health issue right now. And to everyone else, please don’t skip your mammograms, colonoscopies and skin checks.”
Fischer’s message highlights a critical reality about cancer: early diagnosis is key to a better prognosis and more effective treatment options.

Fischer has also been candid about her own physical transformation, sharing intimate details of her hair loss and regrowth journey to encourage others navigating a similar path. Sporting a curled bob, she said this month her hair returned thicker and coarser following chemotherapy.
