This may raise a few questions: What does “sudden and aggressive cancer” mean? Could this also happen to me?

What does sudden and aggressive cancer mean?

In medicine, an aggressive cancer describes a tumor or disease that forms, grows, or spreads quickly. It may also describe treatment that is more severe or intense than usual.

When deaths occur within weeks, the disease may seem to have appeared out of nowhere. Yet, many cancers develop silently for months, even years, before causing visible symptoms.

What symptoms should raise concerns?

When faced with cancer, how do you know if you should be alarmed?

Knowing the common signs and symptoms can be useful and important in early detection and diagnosis, ultimately leading to a more favorable treatment plan and outcome.

Different types of cancer can cause different types of signs and symptoms. Many cancers don't show symptoms until they are more advanced. When the cancer is advanced, it becomes more difficult to cure and more aggressive treatments are needed.

In the United States of America, about one in seven cancers is detected by a recommended screening test.

Early detection is crucial in that it increases the chances of effective and successful treatment. This can help to save and improve the lives of cancer patients.
