Hi, I’m Manisha. I'm from India, and I survived Stage 3 breast cancer.

I was diagnosed after noticing some suspicious symptoms.

When I first received the news, I felt fearful and nervous.

After the diagnosis, I exercised less often.

Initially, my doctors recommended: lumpectomy and mastectomy. But the treatment wasn't effective, and I wanted to hear more options and a second opinion. In the end, I opted for lumpectomy, immunotherapy and pain medication at a different hospital.
I was anxious, angry, and discouraged, but a bit more hopeful after changing my treatment plan.

Side effects like diarrhea, hair loss, and loss of appetite were tough, but I managed with prescribed medication.

After treatment, I permanently changed my diet and smoking habits. I ate healthier most of the time and smoked less often. Since discovering I had cancer, I’ve been communicating more with family, texting and calling more often, visiting them more too. However, intimacy with my partner was less frequent than before.

For the next two years, I just want to focus on taking care of mine and my family’s health.

My biggest fear throughout has been the possibility of a repeat of the disease. I'm trying to overcome it.

I feel the same as before, nervous and fearful.

To those on their own journey, I say, to hope.
