High PSA Levels
Discover how patients managed high PSA levels after prostate cancer screening. Learn what comes next and what to expect after your PSA results.
When I saw blood in my urine, I sought medical attention immediately. I had high PSA levels, and a subsequent MRI and bone scan showed that the tumor had spread to my bones.

Some time back, I noticed that I was urinating more often than usual. After a blood test showed that there were high levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in my blood.

My GP suggested a digital rectal examination and PSA test because I was over 55 and part of the risk group. My PSA levels were normal, but the PSA tests the following year showed that my PSA had more than doubled.

I didn’t have any symptoms. I requested a PSA test because my family doctor didn’t think it was necessary. My PSA was elevated, so I was referred to a urologist. After monitoring my levels for some time, I had a biopsy and they found the cancer.

Difficulty Urinating and Other Issues
Frequent urination in men, difficulty urinating and blood in urine are common issues faced by those dealing with prostate cancer.

I was having problems urinating and one day, I noticed blood in my urine. There was so much blood — as if someone had stabbed me. I called my doctor and he said it could be an infection or a stone.

The first worrying symptoms I experienced were frequent urination and hip pain. I also had a weak and interrupted urine flow and trouble emptying my bladder completely. It was a few weeks before I sought medical help.

I’d had difficulty starting urination and was urinating frequently, especially at night. The flow of my urine was weak and interrupted, and I had trouble emptying my bladder completely too.
