Hi, my name is Amanda. This is the story of my life with cancer.
A black spot was found on my body. Following a mammogram, it was confirmed that I had stage 2 breast cancer. I was overcome with feelings of fear, helplessness and worry as I struggled with my diagnosis.
I was recommended a lumpectomy, lymphadenectomy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Believing in the expertise of my doctor, I followed through with this treatment plan.
Ever since then, I’ve been taking one day at a time and embracing a new sense of normalcy.

The discovery of a black spot during a routine check-up prompted further investigation, leading to a diagnosis of stage 2 breast cancer after a mammogram.

Upon receiving the diagnosis, the fear I experienced was profound. I felt helpless, overwhelmed, and worried about what the future might hold.

Despite the diagnosis, I didn't make specific changes to my lifestyle except for noticing that my body felt weak more easily.

My journey through treatment led me to the compassionate care of professionals. Initially recommended a comprehensive treatment plan involving breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy), surgery: lymphadenectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, I embraced their treatment recommendations wholeheartedly.

I encountered some hurdles along the way in my treatment journey. Side effects such as hair loss and weight fluctuations tested my resilience. However, I found ways to manage these challenges. Through improved nutrition and prescribed medication, I navigated through the discomfort, determined to emerge stronger on the other side.
Navigating the financial burden of treatment added another layer of complexity to my journey. The cost of chemotherapy medication was burdensome, highlighting the additional challenges that many cancer patients face beyond the physical toll of the illness.

During and after treatment, I maintained my lifestyle without making any further changes. I don’t have any special or grand plans in place either; preferring to live day by day like usual, embracing normalcy in my life.

My dreams and aspirations revolve around leading a simple, uncomplicated life, on top of following my doctor’s instructions in my life post-breast cancer.

During my journey to recovery, my biggest fear revolved around chemotherapy and radiation treatment, both of which were part of my treatment regimen.

Looking back as a cancer survivor, I realize that I feel rather neutral about my diagnosis and cancer journey.

For those currently going through their own cancer journey, do adhere to your doctor's recommendations and maintain a positive mindset.
