Ceejay Profile

Hi, I'm Ceejay and I’m currently battling stage 3 colorectal cancer.

Breathlessness led to my diagnosis, and my treatment included partial colectomy and chemotherapy.

Despite the challenges I faced, I've maintained optimism and am looking forward to retirement and new hobbies. My cancer journey taught me the importance of keeping a sense of humor and perseverance.

Ming Symptoms

It all started with some strange symptoms that I couldn't ignore. The breathlessness I felt was caused by severe anemia, which prompted a series of blood tests and bowel tests. Other symptoms I had were diarrhea and constipation, and also the feeling that the bowel does not empty all the way.

Eventually, it led me to the hospital where my doctor delivered the news: colorectal cancer, stage 3. It wasn't something I ever expected to hear.

I remember feeling fearful when I first heard the word "cancer." Frightened didn't quite capture it. I was worried about what it meant for me.

Aditya Lifestyle

I did not make any changes to my lifestyle after diagnosis.

Roy Biggest Fear

After the diagnosis sank in, the next step was treatment:

I trusted my oncologist’s advice and went ahead with both options. Relief and hope came once the treatment plan had been confirmed; but looking at the big decisions made, I felt discouraged at the steps I had to take.

Tia Side Effects

Treatment came with its own set of challenges. I was not spared from side effects and struggled with fatigue, lymphedema, and peripheral neuropathy.

With the help of prescribed medications, I managed to push through the exhaustion and discomfort to keep fighting.

Santos Lifestyle

After going through treatment, I found myself reassessing my lifestyle. I’ve cut down my alcohol intake per week by half.

Ceejay Aspirations

Writing a journal has helped me get through the cancer journey.

Looking ahead, I'm excited about the possibility of retirement from work and exploring new hobbies. Retirement will give me the freedom to do just that, whether it's taking up swimming or diving into other interests I've always wanted to pursue.

Ceejay Lifestyle

Throughout my journey to recovery, my biggest fear was the social isolation that comes due to the side effects of chemotherapy. My friends visited on good days and I walked my dogs on days where I felt fit enough. These are helpful in keeping the sense of isolation at bay.

Emma Emotions Today

Some time has passed since I was diagnosed with cancer. Today, as I reflect back on my journey, I feel a sense of optimism and hopefulness.
