Hello, my name is Patrick and I’m an office clerk living in the US. I was diagnosed with stage 1 prostate cancer in June 2024 after suffering from urination issues for some time. This is my cancer story thus far.
For a few weeks, I had the following symptoms:
- Frequent urination, especially at night
- Difficulty starting urination
- Weak/interrupted urine flow
- Pain/burning during urination
This prompted me to seek medical help, which led to a diagnosis of transitional cell carcinoma.
When I found out about my diagnosis, I was surprised because I never imagined getting cancer.
I was just diagnosed in June 2024, so I haven’t decided on a treatment plan and am yet to receive treatment.
For the next few years, I plan to schedule regular family/friend gatherings.
Financial aid organizations have been particularly helpful in my journey with cancer.
I needed the income to support myself and my loved ones, so I continued working even after finding out I had cancer.
Since learning about my cancer diagnosis, I’ve faced difficulties in my professional life. But I got through the challenge by staying positive.
My biggest fear is the uncertainty about the future. In trying to overcome this, I joined support groups and online communities.
Now I have to start a journey of uncertainty. So, I’m sad but optimistic at the same time.
Stay hydrated and eat nutritious food. Join support groups online and offline.
